What to Expect

You'll have a great time. The OTSL experience is unlike any other. Come early to enjoy delicious picnics in our gardens or stay late for cocktails with our singers after each performance.

Picnicking begins 2 hours prior to each performance. Bring your own, order ahead, or enjoy sandwiches, snacks, and full bar which are all available the day of the opera. You can also learn more about each production during a free opera preview held one hour prior to each performance. After the opera, stay for drinks under the starlight alongside the extraordinary singers who made your heart soar minutes before. It’s fun, informal, and everyone is welcome.

When do I need to get there?

If you aren’t able to come and picnic before the show, plan to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the opera. It will give you that little extra time to park, read through our season program booklet, and find your seats before doors close. Performances begin promptly. While we do offer closed-circuit coverage of the performances via television monitors in the lobby, late arrivals will not be seated until an appropriate break in the music, determined by OTSL management. We do this to ensure that our audiences can enjoy the performances with a minimum of distraction.

Performances start at:

Wednesday - Saturday: 8:00 p.m.
Sunday: 7:00 p.m.
Matinees: 1:00 p.m.

And once the performance has started?

Put down the camera… Any use of cameras or recording devices is strictly prohibited.

And turn off your cell! If you are expecting emergency calls please direct those calls to the House Manager’s Office at (314) 968-8888 to leave your name and seat location.

Wait! Where is my program... My umbrella... My date?

Lost items may be retrieved at the House Manager’s Office immediately after the performance or after 10:00 a.m. the next day. (314) 968-8888

Do you have access for special needs patrons?

Yes. A limited number of handicapped spaces are available in the Big Bend Lot (near the east entrance to the Loretto-Hilton Center). See our parking page for location details. Please understand that we cannot legally reserve them for our patrons.

If you or one in your party needs special seating, please let the Box Office know when you order your tickets to make appropriate arrangements. Infrared listening devices are also available for those with hearing impairments. Please see the house manager when you arrive at the theater.

I bought my tickets and now I can’t find them - can I still get in?

Don’t worry. Your records are on file and tickets are guaranteed. Call the Box Office at (314) 961-0644 and we will have replacement seat passes waiting for you when you get to the theater.

My schedule changed - can I exchange my tickets?

Subscription tickets can be exchanged for another performance of the same opera — FREE.  Single tickets will be exchanged for a fee of $10.00 per ticket.

Exchanges must be made 48 hours before the scheduled performance. They will be made in the same section and price category if possible. If we must exchange your tickets for a higher-priced section, you will be responsible for the difference; if the exchange is made to a lower-priced section, you will receive a receipt for the balance, which may be claimed as a tax-deductible donation.

There are two ways to exchange tickets: In person at the Box Office or by returning the original tickets by mail along with the exchange request, a daytime phone number, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Box Office.
