Introduce your children to the world of ancient Greek mythology through the magic of opera! In conjunction with Opera Theatre’s 2018 production of Gluck’s classic Orfeo & Euridice, Opera Camp participants will spend a week learning about the fables and folklore behind one of the world’s oldest and most cherished stories. For the first time ever, campers will have the opportunity to participate in special dance and movement workshops alongside professional dancers from St. Louis’ own Big Muddy Dance Company, OTSL’s co-collaborator for Orfeo & Euridice.

Opera Camp for Kids is open to students entering grades 4-7 in the fall and offers hands-on experiences in singing, writing, composing, and making instruments, supervised by OTSL professionals and leading music educators. In addition, attendees will also learn about costuming, makeup, lighting, and set design — all the things that go into Opera Theatre’s internationally acclaimed productions! Camp tuition includes one ticket per student for a live performance of Orfeo & Euridice, brought to life by Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, The Big Muddy Dance Company, and members of the renowned St. Louis Symphony.

Camp sessions are held from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily at Clark Elementary School in Webster Groves or Hoech Middle School in St. Ann. Each week of camp will finish with a “sharing session” for friends and families on the last day.
