This spring, The Grapes of Wrath will receive its first full professional staging in a decade. Composer Ricky Ian Gordon (OTSL’s “27”) and librettist Michael Korie (Broadway’s Grey Gardens) have revised this ground-breaking opera significantly for its St. Louis premiere —condensing John Steinbeck’s iconic American novel into a powerful piece of musical drama.
Meet the opera’s creators with this series of panel discussions, film screenings, musical previews, and cocktail parties. Join us for an exploration of Steinbeck’s novel, the evolution of an opera from page to stage, and resonant themes of migration and the American dream in our country today.
