Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, an internationally acclaimed arts organization, seeks an Executive Assistant to the General Director.  This position represents an ideal opportunity for a motivated and highly organized professional who is either an experienced executive assistant or a candidate wishing to pursue a career in arts administration, marketing, or fundraising.

Founded in 1976, OTSL offers a six-week spring festival season each year that regularly attracts ticket buyers from 47 states and a dozen foreign countries, as well as from every zip code in the St. Louis metropolitan area.  The company is recognized for the quality of its productions and the adventurousness of its repertoire, which has included 23 world premieres and 23 American premieres.  The company’s annual budget is approximately $9 million.  Under the leadership of General Director Timothy O’Leary, OTSL has sustained its long tradition of financial strength and fiscal responsibility.   

Opera Theatre seeks a professional with exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills.  Responsibilities include a variety of writing projects, including correspondence with board members, donors, and subscribers; managing the seasonal administrative internship program; coordinating schedules for meetings of staff, donors, and board members; managing travel arrangements for the General Director and visiting VIPs; tracking expenses and managing financial paperwork; gathering and organizing data for special projects, (e.g. research for artistic initiatives, fundraising, and strategic planning); general clerical tasks such as filing and mailings.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills;
  • Extraordinary attention to detail;
  • Familiarity with the arts and the non-profit sector and an interest in opera;
  • The ability to assimilate information quickly and work independently;
  • Skill in managing projects with overlapping deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets.
