May 20 - June 25, 2006
The season begins with two all-time opera favorites: Rossini's hit comedy The Barber of Seville and Humperdinck's beautiful Hansel and Gretel. We then offer the American premiere of Michael Berkeley's
powerful Jane Eyre and Kurt Weill's "Broadway opera " StreetScene. The season will also feature Opera Theatre's first showcase concert for the Gerdine Young Artists on Monday, June 19.

If you haven't been to Opera Theatre before, get ready for a surprise: this isn't old-style opera in huge theaters and foreign languages. You'll hear wonderful music sung in English by the best young singers; you'll see exciting brand-new productions, accompanied by members of the famed Saint Louis Symphony, in a small theater that brings the audience close to the action.

It's going to be a wonderful season. See you at the opera!
