La bohème - 1896 Giacomo Puccini
This is one of the great ones. It had Cher sobbing in Moonstruck, won two Tonys in Baz Luhrmann’s Broadway production, and had the seventh longest Broadway run ever as the rock musical Rent.
Whether in Paris or the East Village, La bohème is a heartbreaking story full of gaiety and pathos, laughter and tears, set to irresistible music – it has been playing nonstop all over the world since 1896. Show your friends why operas like this last forever.
