Introduce your students to the fantastic world of opera through mini-workshops in behind the scenes, expressing character through music and make-up. Designed for young people in grades 3-12, the program ends with a 30 minute semi-staged performance by four of OTSLs outstanding Gerdine Young Artists with piano accompaniment. They will present favorites from Verdi's Rigoletto, Puccinis La bohéme, Rossinis The Barber of Seville and the world's fastest performance of Madame Butterfly, using a multi-media set, props and costumes.

Behind the Scenes Workshop:
Students will be given a virtual tour of all the unseen elements that make a production happen.

Expressing Character Workshop:
Students will learn about creating a character through acting styles, movement and singing.

Stage Make-up Workshop:
Singers must master basic make-up techniques to create their characters age, personality and appearance. Students will learn a few of these basic techniques as they see a participant transformed before their eyes.
