OPERA THEATRE OF SAINT LOUIS ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR THE ROLE OF "CHARLIE" IN THE WORLD PREMIERE PRODUCTION OF THE GOLDEN TICKET
Opera: The Golden Ticket
A new opera based on Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

ROLE: "Charlie" a 10 - 13 year boy with unchanged voice The role is extensive and central to the opera. The singer must possess strong musical skills including rhythmic and pitch accuracy, along with a comfortable stage demeanor.
REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE PERIOD:
Extensive day and evening rehearsal/performance activities will likely require flexible school schedule for all serious applicants.
Rehearsals: May 17 through June 11, 2010 Performances: June 13, 16, 18, 22 (mat.), 24, 26; 2010
COMPENSATION: This singer chosen will be engaged on a professional contract and will receive a weekly fee for rehearsal and performance weeks.
AUDITION: All auditioning singers will be provided sheet music from the opera to learn in the original key and sing for the audition. This is an absolute requirement. Memorization for the audition, however, is not required. Singers will be permitted to use sheet music during the audition.
A pianist will be provided to accompany auditions. No recorded accompaniment or a capella singing will be allowed.
AUDITION APPOINTMENTS:
Auditions will be held at the Sally Levy Opera Center on the following dates/times:
Saturday, 30 January 10 am - 3 pm Sunday, 31 January 1 pm - 5 pm

A resume (however modest) indicating age, height, weight, school affiliation, and grade level along with a simple photo (full length if possible) is required to complete the audition application process. These can be emailed if desired.
